Vibrant, colourful, delicious: Lima is the perfect setting for the unveiling of The 50 Best Restaurants 2026, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. The Peruvian capital is a melting pot of cuisines, cultures and, consequently, flavours. The proof? Lima restaurants topped the list in both 2025 (Maido) and 2023 (Central).

A day in Lima can be packed full of culinary delights if you follow our itinerary, which takes you off the beaten track to explore the capital’s hidden gems and flavours. Read on for our tips on where to eat in the city's neighbourhoods throughout the day, all the while savouring local traditions.

A Mini by Alanya

Start your day with a great cup of coffee in the old town at A Mini, the ‘to go’ concept inside the Museo Bodega y Quadra from the hugely famous, award-winning Alanya patisserie. Here, fine patisserie meets great baking. The result is an unmissable stopover with views of the city’s historic monuments, where you can enjoy traditional specialities and perfectly crafted sweet and savoury baked goods.

Terraza Lima Club

Still in the Old Town, our next suggestion is a more elegant and sophisticated venue. Terraza Lima Club bar and restaurant is on the top floor of a historic building overlooking Plaza Mayor. The menu features traditional Peruvian cuisine elevated to fine dining, with equally impressive mixology. It’s also excellent for dinner, with live music and DJ sets enhancing the experience.

Renacer Chocolatier

Peruvian cacao is a highly prized commodity and an ingredient envied globally for its outstanding quality. What sets Renacer apart from the many chocolate shops (chocotejas) in Lima and throughout Peru is its gourmet touch. Located in the heart of the Jesús María neighbourhood, the shop team works closely with local producers and isn’t afraid to experiment with bold flavour combinations. Don’t believe us? Try one of their lomo saltado- or ceviche-flavoured creations: unforgettable.

La Mar

If you're looking for the ultimate authentic Peruvian ceviche, La Mar is the place for you. Founded by Gastón Acurio, this Miraflores restaurant has become an increasingly important benchmark for traditional cuisine. The catch of the day (strictly local) is prepared and served with the utmost respect for the ingredients. A regular on The 50 Best Restaurants in Latin America list, La Mar is an absolute must-visit for foodies. A word of advice: the restaurant does not take bookings. So be prepared to queue for a table. It’s definitely worth the wait.

Pregón de las Once

Our final suggestion is more than just a stop-off; it's a real indulgence. Pregón de las Once, located in the Barranco neighbourhood, is a haven of comforting desserts. Part bakery, part café, it’s where traditional Peruvian ingredients are transformed into unique cakes, desserts and ice creams. Top tip: order a ranfañote accompanied by an algarrobina iced latte; you won’t regret it.
