London has two new, two-Michelin-star restaurants after the Michelin Guide to Great Britain and Ireland 2026 was unveiled at a ceremony in Dublin.
Chef Matt Abé’s months-old Bonheur, on the site of the legendary Le Gavroche in Mayfair, went straight into the guide with two stars, unsurprising to many given Abé’s previous captaincy of Gordon Ramsay’s flagship three-star London restaurant and obvious talent.
Joining Bonheur in the two-star club (now 28-strong in the region) is Jason Atherton and Spencer Metzger’s Row on 5.
Speculation had been rife that we could be welcoming a new three-star this year, following Moor Hall’s promotion in 2025, with the likes of Gareth Ward’s Ynyshir in Machynlleth and Mickael Viljanen’s Chapter One in Dublin among the favourites. It wasn’t to be, though all 10 existing three-stars retained the honour.
So, while, at first glance this year’s Guide release lacks the newsworthy clout of previous editions, there were significant additions at the one-star level, with chef Rafael Cagali bringing a star to Brighton and Hove for the first time in decades at Maré. Nieves Barragán Mohacho’s Legado and Clare Smyth’s Corenucopia, both in London, and Luke French’s Joro in Sheffield, were also amongst the 20 one-star recipients.
Additionally, seven new green star sustainability gongs were awarded, plus 37 new Bib Gourmands given out for great value cooking.
This year’s additions take the number of Michelin-starred restaurants in Great Britain and Ireland to 230. See all the new stars below.
