Why now is the perfect time to launch Fine Dining Lovers UK

Fine Dining Lovers UK is here and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Find out what we have in store for you

We’re hugely excited to launch a platform dedicated to the best of UK gastronomy. We’ve always had a global perspective here at Fine Dining Lovers, but with FDL UK we can truly focus on what makes the country one of the world’s most exciting destinations (and places to live) for foodies.

You can expect tips, recipes and opinions from the country’s best chefs, including authoritative guides to where to eat and drink in the UK’s culinary hotspots (because we all want to eat where the chefs eat); the UK’s best food writers diving deep into the stories that matter; and the usual news, trend and event coverage so you can stay informed.

Why now? Because there has never been a better time to be a foodie in the UK. We have brilliant restaurants, chefs and produce and FDL UK is a chance to shout about it. On a personal note, as a Brit based in London, I can’t wait to share the best the country has to offer, whether you’re reading right here in the UK or somewhere else in the world (if the latter we hope to see you soon).

Naturally, London, with its endless carousel of openings, micro-trends, seismic shifts, and everything in between will feature significantly in our coverage. Still, some of the country’s most exciting food experiences are outside the capital. Chefs and chef-growers are putting down roots (pun intended) closer to the land and the produce (here’s looking at you, Merlin Labron-Johnson), and going for a meal now can be an experience that lasts for days as you immerse yourself in the soul and surroundings of a restaurant with rooms. With just a short walk to bed after dinner and a triumphant send-off over breakfast the next morning, it’s easy to see the appeal.

The best dining in the UK doesn’t always require Wellington boots. Manchester must be the buzziest city in the UK full stop currently, with some seriously impressive restaurants (Erst was one of my highlights of the past year), or who wouldn’t happily queue for an hour outside Edinburgh’s Lannan Bakery for a taste of Darcie Maher’s divine Viennoiserie?

Then there’s the produce, from some of the world’s best seafood to exemplary cheese to fantastic wines. Even delicious vegetables grown in city centres that are good enough to be served at Michelin-starred restaurants (like the incredible lettuce served at Mauro Colagreco at Raffles London at The OWO, which is grown just a few miles down the road in Elephant & Castle by Crate to Plate) and enjoyed at home. We’ll tell you what’s in season, where to eat it, where to buy it and what to do with it once you do.

So, we have a lot to talk about, will you join us? Discover more about all of the helpful features we’ve created for you on the new FDL and if you like what you see, please remember to subscribe.

Happy eating!
